TAX RETURNS

Self Assessment, explained simply.

We help you prepare an accurate annual return and understand what your figures mean.

What is Self Assessment?

It is the system HMRC uses to collect Income Tax from people whose tax is not fully collected through PAYE. Many sole traders, landlords and some individuals need to file a return.

Who is this for?

Taxi drivers, barbers, couriers, cleaners, tradespeople, childminders and other self-employed people — where a tax return is required.

MTD FOR INCOME TAX

Making Tax Digital. Made understandable.

Practical help with HMRC digital records, quarterly updates and your annual tax return.

What does MTD actually mean?

For people within the rules, it means keeping digital records of business or property income and expenses, sending quarterly updates and finalising tax through the required software.

Who is affected?

Income thresholds phase in from April 2026. We check whether MTD applies to your circumstances before recommending a package.

BOOKKEEPING

You run the business. We keep the books.

Reliable bookkeeping for sole traders, shops and limited companies, without unnecessary complexity.

What is bookkeeping?

It means keeping a clear record of money coming into and going out of your business. Good bookkeeping helps you see where your business stands and makes tax returns easier.

We categorise transactions, reconcile accounts and keep financial records organised.

LIMITED COMPANIES

Company accounts without the confusion.

Year-end accounts, Corporation Tax returns and regular support for limited-company directors.

What are company accounts?

A limited company usually needs annual accounts for Companies House, a Company Tax Return (CT600) for HMRC and a confirmation statement. The filing deadlines are not necessarily the same.

Our combined monthly packages spread routine bookkeeping and annual accounting costs over the year.

STARTER PACKAGE£168/moBookkeeping + standard year-end accounts and CT600

Does every self-employed person need to file Self Assessment?

Not necessarily. It depends on your income, activities and HMRC requirements. We can check which return or registration is relevant.

Is the basic MTD package full bookkeeping?

No. The basic plan assumes you maintain your own complete digital records. Full bookkeeping is a separate service.

Does £100 monthly bookkeeping include CT600?

No. It is a bookkeeping-only starting fee. Our combined company accounting packages start from £168 per month.

What is a CT600?

A Company Tax Return for a limited company. It is different from a sole trader Self Assessment return.

Is annual company accounting included in every bookkeeping package?

Only in packages that explicitly say bookkeeping + accounting. We confirm what is included before engagement.

Will my accounting software cost extra?

Usually yes, unless included in your written quotation. Government filing fees and specialist work may also be separate.

Can I book an online appointment?

Yes. Use the appointment request form on our Book page and we will contact you to confirm a time.
